Biography
Dr. Robert MacKay has over 15 years of experience as an economic consultant and federal government economist. He specializes in performing economic analysis, measuring economic impacts, and calculating damages in various areas, including antitrust litigation, class action, and liability and damages analysis.
With an expertise in applied microeconomics and econometrics, Dr. MacKay has supported expert witnesses in complex litigation in the areas of antitrust, finance, and other business matters. He has experience in a variety of industries, including banking, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, chemicals, multimedia marketing, and residential mortgage-backed securities.
Within the federal government, Dr. MacKay worked as a Financial Economist at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and as a Public Finance Economist at the U.S. Government Accountability Office. He analyzed areas of public policy, including banking regulations and tax policy issues.
Dr. MacKay's academic publications focus on banking, municipal bankruptcy, local government finances, public employee retirement systems, and unfunded pension liabilities. Dr. MacKay currently serves as a lecturer of microeconomic theory and public economics at Johns Hopkins University. He has also taught courses in applied microeconomic theory at George Washington University and in econometrics at Utah State University.
