Todd Beresin

Todd Beresin is a CPA licensed in the state of Georgia with approximately 30 years of experience in real estate finance, real estate receivership & property management, interim CFO services, due diligence, forensic accounting, bankruptcy consulting and litigation support. Todd has also testified as an expert in complex real estate partnership disputes.

Mr. Beresin has been with B.Riley Advisory Services (formally GlassRatner) since 2009. From November 2021, through October 2023 Todd served as the interim CFO and CFO of MLU Services (a national leader in disaster recovery support).

From 2017 through July 2022, Mr. Beresin served as a leader in our national due diligence and quality of earnings practices as well as in our interim financial management practice. In addition, Mr. Beresin played an active prominent role on dozens of restructuring and litigation support assignments. From 2009 to 2016 Mr. Beresin provided hands-on leadership for the successful execution of over 400 real estate receivership and property management assignments dealing with billions of dollars of both distressed and stabilized real estate assets across the US.

Some of his more recent assignments include:

• CFO for $200M+ company in the construction services and vegetation management industries. Primary accomplishments include designing and implementing new accounting policies, procedures and internal controls as well as significantly enhancing the company's ability to generate timely, accurate and meaningful financial statements. Todd also hired, trained and mentored a new accounting and finance team. In addition, Todd successfully led the effort to collect over $100M of open delinquent receivables.
• Served as interim financial manager and assistant to the CRO for a distressed company providing design, engineering and construction services to industrial manufacturing facilities.
• Provided lead accounting and reporting support for a large Receivership in the Healthcare Industry.

Prior to joining the firm in 2009, Mr. Beresin served as the Corporate Controller of Wood Partners, a top 3 multi-family developer in the United States. In this position, Mr. Beresin directed a team of 20 accounting professionals, resolved technical accounting issues, and created new accounting policies involving revenue recognition, derivatives, investment accounting, construction accounting, fair value impairment, variable interest entities and deferred revenue. Mr. Beresin also implemented a major conversion to U.S. GAAP from tax basis books for over 100 entities. In addition to Todd's role at Wood Partners he held senior financial leadership positions at BVT Equity Holdings, a commercial real estate development and management company headquartered in Munich, Germany and Harmony Properties, Inc., an owner and operator of multi-family properties and Housing Systems, Inc., a regional owner, operator and rehab developer of workforce housing throughout the Southeast and Midwest.

Mr. Beresin began his career in public accounting with Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, P.C., the largest local Atlanta firm, working on both tax and audit engagements, predominantly in the real estate industry.

Mr. Beresin graduated from Boston University with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
