Biography
Adam Brown has 27 years of experience in Real Estate Finance, Banking, Real Estate Development, Court-Appointed Receiverships, Real Estate Restructurings, Bankruptcy Consulting, and Property Management.
Prior to joining B. Riley, Mr. Brown served as Director of Acquisitions at Sagestone Partners, an investment and development platform that primarily focuses on senior housing.
From 2014 to 2020, Mr. Brown served as Chief Strategy Officer for Monte Hewett Homes, a luxury homebuilder based in Atlanta, Georgia. In his capacity as Chief Strategy Officer, Adam handled a broad range of duties including creating the strategic direction for the company, which generated $80 million on revenue annually; sourcing and entitling new development opportunities; debt and equity financing; and all legal activities.
From 2008 to 2014, Mr. Brown held various roles at GlassRatner Advisory & Capital Group, LLC including Senior Manager, Managing Director, and Executive Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager for GlassRatner's receivership practice.
- Senior team member for the Fairfield Residential bankruptcy case representing creditors with in excess of $2.0 billion of outstanding debt.
- Involved in restructuring over $10.0 billion in Real Estate debt including the right-sizing of company operations for broad spectrum of Real Estate companies throughout the Southeast.
- Led marketing efforts to expand GlassRatner's receivership practice from 30 assets to in excess of 150 assets and over $1.0 billion of Real Estate under management.
- Completed forensic accounting and financial analysis on a $200 million mixed-use project that included determining the flow of funds between various borrowing entities.
From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Brown served initially as an Investment Associate at The Lane Company's multifamily acquisition team and eventually became a Development Partner in the Land Development & Townhome Division.
Mr. Brown began his career as VP and Portfolio Manager at Silicon Valley Bank's Atlanta office where he managed a 40-company portfolio of early-stage technology and life science companies.
Mr. Brown graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA
in Finance and received an MBA from Emory University's Goizuetta School of
Business with a concentration in Finance and Real Estate.
