Stuart Kaufman is a veteran turnaround and restructuring professional with over 25 years of experience advising businesses during periods of distress and transition. Stuart is accomplished in operational improvements, developing and implementing value creation plans, balance sheet restructurings (in and out of court), interim management, debt & equity financing, lender services, and treasury management.
Stuart has deep knowledge across a significant number of industries including automotive, hospitality, healthcare, oil & gas, power generation & distribution, manufacturing, logistics, financial services, aviation, telecommunications, and e-commerce. Stuart has acted as a financial advisor and Chief Restructuring Officer ("CRO") in several cases including Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, Hornbeck Offshore Services, SLS Casino, Dura Automotive, Loot Crate, Car Outlet/Total Finance, A123 Systems, Tribune Company, ATA Airlines, American Home & Appliance and Enersafe. Additionally, Stuart has noteworthy experience acting as interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for several companies experiencing operational and financial distress.
Before joining B. Riley Advisory Services in 2022, Stuart worked for several notable turnaround and restructuring firms, including Alvarez & Marsal, Riveron (formerly Winter Harbor) Portage Point Partners, and Navigant Capital Advisors. Prior to a career as a trusted business advisor, Stuart worked in management roles within the telecommunications, financial services, and natural resources industries.
Stuart holds a Master's in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University (Toronto), a BA from the University of Western Ontario, and is a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor.
